Bandon, America needs a little help

PLease find below an email that I received recently. I think it is worth our support .... even from afar. All you have to do is click! Read on .....

Good morning Bandon Ireland!
I am writing to you from Bandon in America…and we could use your help. As you know Bandon was established by Lord Bennett who hailed from your beautiful town of Bandon Ireland. Our town was built on the shoulders of the lumber and fishing industries but with the passing of time these industries no longer support families or businesses in town so we have turned towards tourism as our means of providing income and a livelihood for our little town. Getting the word out about our little town is a huge task but this endeavor has the potential of getting easier; Budget Travel is sponsoring a competition to name the top 10 coolest small towns in America and Bandon is one of them!

Out of 147 nominations Bandon has made it to the top 10 list but there is still one month left in the competition and we need votes. Could you help us? Please check out their link at www.budgettravel.com/coolestsmalltowns. Readers are asked to go to the website and vote on their favorite. The top 10 will get published in the September issue. . An individual can vote once a day and we truly could use your help. Can you assist us by voting and by sending this link out to the people of Bandon, Ireland? We are Facebooking and Twittering about it but your help in this would be invaluable. Please let us know if you can help us achieve this prestigious title.

Thank you so much and please let us know if there is anything we can ever do to help you, our sister city.
Warmest Wishes,
Clyde

Bandon Tidy Towns

The Transition Town Bandon group and Bandon Tidy Towns got together on Friday, 12th March and planted over 100 native trees on the Bandon bypass as the town's contribution to National Tree Week.

Students from Colaiste na Tobhairte and St Brogans helped with the planting as did volunteers from the Rosmini centre and from Cope.

Fruit trees were given to Bandon Grammar School, the Gael Scoil, Laragh National School and St Brogans and will be planted in the school grounds by the students.

A further 200 trees will be planted next Friday to complete the project.
