Discover Ireland supplement forgets Bandon
In a most impressive supplement in yesterday's Irish Times (15/6/09), the tourist got a great sense of some of the hidden treasures of West Cork.

Look out for the section on the right detailing supplements and click on the 'Discover West Cork ' supplement. You may have to put 'Discover West Cork' in the search bar at top.
It is rather disappointing to note that Bandon was barely mentioned. The current Bandon website highlights just some of what Bandon has to offer and over the next few days, we expect to revamp the entire website with even more details of what Bandon can offer the local, the day-tripper and the tourist.
Anyone who travels to Bandon should always check out the locally produced 'Opinion' monthly magazine and also the 'Whats On Bandon' free newsletter available locally. The calendar and blog sections of this website also highlight just some of the local activities also.
As one person recently said, maybe we should just keep our tresures to ourselves ... so don't tell anyone about............. the West Cork Heritage Centre, Urru, Fionn Uisce, The Poachers Inn, Sorrentos, Seats, Jakes Cakes, Italistro, the riverside walk, golfing at Castlebernard, the Bandon Summer Show, the Music Festival, Bandon Summerfest, the Bandon Christmas Lights, racing at Old Chapel, Jeffers sports, the various pubs, the local mens and ladies outfitters, all the wedding material you require, the quality of the local food produce, the choice of cars, the financial and legal services, the various medical facilities, the bandon and Riverview shopping centres, the quality of the schools, the availability of quality homes at affordable prices, the many sporting, voluntary and charity groups that are highlighted elsewhere.
Remember ... don't tell anyone .... let this be West Cork's best kept secret!!!!
While bandon seems to have been forgotten by our Tourist Board, let's hope they get an idea of what Bandon has to offer before the next publication.
